Meet Melissa & The Team
Melissa Bloom-Powell, Founder
MS, RD, LD + Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian Consultant (CEDS-C)
Food is my passion, and smashing diet culture is my mission as an Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian. We live in a world that promotes disordered eating. Many of us have no idea that we have been exposed to an abundance of misinformation about nutrition and the human body. It’s time for that to change; It’s time for all of us to learn how to thrive, despite the toxicity of diet culture that saturates our media and daily conversations.
Melissa is Texan-born and raised. She played competitive tennis at the state level as a junior throughout her childhood. Because of this experience, she went on to teach tennis professionally as a USPTA-certified coach and still enjoys teaching and playing. It truly is a lifelong sport!
Melissa obtained her Master’s Degree in Nutrition at Texas Woman’s University and completed my Dietetic Internship there. Then she started her professional career in bariatric surgery and nutrition in the media until she moved into eating disorders at the inpatient and residential setting. As a result, she was recruited to build and direct nutrition treatment at various outpatient settings.
Her passion for the outpatient treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating grew, and she has stayed in this type of setting since. Her expertise is in working with Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, and disordered relationships with food that may not involve eating disorder behaviors.
